Once Walker was human, but no more. He was badly wounded in the Battle of Hazard—and should have died that day. The marine corps of his homeworld rebuilt him. They replaced all of the weak, broken flesh with metal. They took his soft flesh and in its place gave him gears and electronics.

Walker finally retired from the marines and the constant wars and joined JumpCorp. That was years ago. Captain Sawyer—the Odyssey’s previous captain—had given him a home on the Odyssey, and treated him as more man than machine.
